Created specifically to celebrate the sale of over one million albums, RCA's first gold record was given by RCA to Glenn Miller and his orchestra in February 1942 for his song, " Chattanooga Choo Choo ". On the occasion of the award event, RCA produced a 78 rpm vinyl record, completely covered in gold, to announce the success of this work of art. The song was nominated by the Academy Award in 1942 for the best song in a film; It was a huge success that year, despite not being broadcast on radio stations, due to the ASCAP boycott. The artist interprets the " story " of a man who travels south from Pennsylvania to New York, arriving at the Chattanooga Tennessee station, where he will meet his girlfriend. Many men were serving in the U.S. Army at the time this song was released, as World War II swept Europe. Glenn Milller asked his orchestra to play the song with the thought of a soldier returning home with polished shoes, full of impatience. As a tribute to this special song, the composition Golden Serenade celebrates the beauty of the magical and romantic moment, in which the perfect night meets love.
