Description
Bois Datchai was inspired by the unusual experience of drinking black tea seasoned with berries in the heart of a primitive forest. We spent the day running and walking in the woods. We arrived in a clearing where we lit a fire, then we sat next to the trees, near a very old wooden house. I had spent all day discovering the different facets of the forests while exploring them, touching the trees and smelling the deep, moist scent of the forest was a truly refreshing experience.
At the end of the day, I picked berries and sat around the fire, drinking spicy black tea. There was an amazing contrast between the fruity facets of blackcurrant, the smoky and woody facets of tea, and of course, the surrounding forest. That's what we decided to translate into this perfume.
For a natural, fruity note, I used blackcurrant absolutes, green and tangy but with a crunchy edge, and then I expanded the fruity facet with blueberries. The key note of the heart is the black tea from Sri Lanka, which I combined with warm cinnamon, before extending the fragrance with multifaceted woods, to express the different elements of the forest.
Patchouli reflects the moist appearance, while birch wood provides smoky, leathery undertones, and cedar adds a woody dryness. Bois Datchai is a woody, unique and complex fragrance with notes of smoke and leather, which contrasts perfectly with the crisp and lively aroma of fruity notes.
