IRIS MALIKHAN

Relaxing on an iris field, on the edge of the desert, inspired me to outline Iris Malikhan. The desert is a harsh environment - hot, dry, whipped by the wind and unpredictable. But when you enter an oasis, it's a green, quiet, humid atmosphere. In perfumery, iris is always processed in a fairly traditional way, with feminine, powdery and clean notes. Personally, I discovered the iris in a new environment, after driving through the middle of the desert, before arriving in a village, right next to an oasis. We entered a guesthouse, where our room had an open terrace. From the terrace, we could see the oasis, the village and the desert. The dessert was decorated with charming brick houses. The sunset over the desert was simply incredible. The sunrise was reflected in the sandstone and I was lucky enough to see some irises, which was completely unexpected. For this fragrance, we processed the iris in a completely new way. We express the iris note without highlighting too much its earthy facets, emphasizing instead the green, dry and warm notes. Iris is, of course, powdery and woody, so we decided to combine it with mimosa to strengthen the powdery veneer and add some heat. We wanted the fragrance to open with a dry, green facet, offered by yellow, frankincense and cypress, which reveals a fresh, slightly aromatic, resinous beginning. Then, we needed a little heat to express the warmth of the dessert and there is no better raw material than vanilla, to create the feeling of sunshine that caresses your skin at sunset. Vanilla is incredibly deep, providing a warm, soft roundness at the base of the scent, while a touch of caramel shapes dryness. An animal leather veneer adds personality to the fragrance, and a final touch of musk completes the feeling of sunshine caressing the skin.
