In the late 1980s, the "acid house" trend arrived in clubs across the UK to incite the biggest revolution in youth culture since the Sixties' Summer of Love. In early 1988, the London scene was "thirsty" for change. Nightclubs were mostly depressing places, where people went to drink alcohol and select gangs and hip hop dominated. But on the horizon, a few DJs were trying to popularize a new style of music called "acid house". This type of music, combined with ecstasy, has turned nightclubs into what they should have been over time: places where people can express themselves. to dance freely and wildly. The two flagship clubs were Shoom and Future, whose owners were inspired by a trip to Ibiza the previous summer. The Acid House movement used the yellow symbol " smiley face " as an emblem of the new music scene: a friendly, anonymous smile that described the simplest and most non-aggressive qualities of youth culture in the 1980s. But the movement was not only about music, but also about fashion: a mixture of neon colors, paint in bright colors. The "casual smart" style was abandoned and comfortable outfits based on sneakers and jumpsuits were adopted. A personal fashion "statement" was made by simulating neon light in dance moves and standing out from the crowd.
For the Cheeky Smile song, Jusbox worked with perfumer Dominique Moellhausen to transform the acidic pieces into a molecular cocktail of joy and happiness by adding notes of Iso E Super, Amber Extreme and Cashmeran.
The interpretation of this underground cultural movement gave rise to the first fluorescent packaging in the history of perfumery. The glass is finished in a special, natural varnish, but which turns into a vibrant, green color when viewed in the absence of light or under ultraviolet light. The side of the glass, the front typography and the upper central part of the lid combine to create an original and hypnotic play of lights. The box sleeve, produced using the same technique, reveals a series of headphones upside down, reminiscent of the "smiley face" - that iconic symbol of the Acid House movement and will take you back to the magical atmosphere of the nights of the Acid House club in London.
