Founded in 1987 by Dennis Paphitis in Melbourne, and with a distinct internal culture of minimalism and order, Aesop stood out as a result of its modern approach to luxury branding. This means not resorting to traditional advertisements or discounts to promote products, but rather getting noticed by the way they talk about the design of products, stores, events and its communication.
An oasis in urban jungles
A luxurious, plant-based, retro-inspired concept, Aesop's design is a studied blend of black - white and brown - gold. Like the color palette, the logo has remained the same for 28 years.
In turn, the products look identical: except for a line of creams that look like paint tubes, all the packaging is brown, with a black lid and a beige label covered with small lettering.
Aesop differs strongly from regular brands: instead of standing out through product packaging, it prefers to present them as something that the customer needs to discover and understand, like a bookstore that arouses curiosity without providing other information.
For the company's national and international experience in sustainable development and eco-friendly products, the Environment Possibility Award awarded the "Green-Trend Leader Award" in 2020.
