Description
Camden Town is one of the most interesting and eclectic cities in London, being famous for its atmosphere; a place full of individuality that avoids prejudice. In the late 19th century, the opening of Regent's Canal and the construction of the railroad gave way to the area's emerging industries: piano makers, wine merchants, gin distilleries, and whiskey warehouses, which turned this formerly suburban area into a hectic place. It has become a part of London, where locals will meet in pubs at the end of the day to share their achievements over a glass of local beer or gin.
The 1960s marked one of the biggest changes in Camden Town's history, becoming a place of the cultural and musical revolution. The round tower, originally built as a locomotive shed and then converted into a gin distillery, has become a psychedelic rock temple—the place where riots against society were raging.
In Camden Town lived a very talented young artist, at the beginning of her career: Amy Winehouse. Her harsh but sweet voice, along with her unique eclectic blend of soul, rhythm & blues and jazz, charmed everyone; like the way a mermaid delights sailors. He enchanted us with strident melodies and rhythms, lyrics imbued with passion. You can't think of Camden Town without including Amy: an embodiment of energy, sound, colors, and contradiction.
