Rio de Janeiro. On the outskirts of the Brazilian metropolis, in the dense shade of the lush vegetation of the Tijuca National Park, the macumba rituals take place. This term, derived from the African Bantu language, designates a set of syncretic religious practices that combine African pagan elements with influences from popular Christianity and multiple Brazilian cultural layers.
Contrary to Western perception, macumba is not always associated with rituals of a negative nature. In most propitiatory ceremonies, the goal is to bring about protection, health, prosperity, luck, and well-being—in a spiritual communion that transcends the boundaries of dogma.
MANGOMACUMBA is the first creation in the OSCURATACOLLECTION signed by Spiritica. The opening is lively, tropical and overwhelmingly realistic: juicy mango and papaya intertwine with lime and pineapple, in a fruity and airy vortex, sprinkled with fresh mint and ozonal accents.
At the heart of the fragrance, tropical notes are soaked with blood and iron – a shuddering accord that evokes ritual objects and offerings. A ritual-perfume that evolves in an increasingly dark, ferruginous and deep spiral, until it reaches the olfactory base – a hypnotic blend of tobacco absolute and black ebony, enveloped in notes of red earth and warm milk.
A bright and dark contrast, from the opening to the end, an initiatory journey between worlds. MANGOMACUMBA is an invitation to look beyond patterns and prejudices, to embrace cultural diversity and to reach one of the most mysterious dimensions of human existence.
Created in collaboration with the young perfumer Daniele Cerroni, following the conceptual direction of the founder of Spiritica, Daniele Muratori Caputo.
