RANCE 1795
For over 200 years, more than ten generations of the Rance family have passed on to their descendants the secrets of beauty, the art of offering perfumes, with a special refinement. Rance is one of the oldest families of perfumers in the world and the one that, for hundreds of years, has brought back to life the precious essences that founder François Rance dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte and the woman he loved, Josephine. In 1795, François Rance founded the perfume house of the same name in the Grasse region, laying the foundations, together with several other famous perfumers of the time, of what became over time, the birthplace of French perfumery.
Rance's refinement and ingenuity attracted the attention of Napoleon I, who honored Rance with the title of "his favorite perfumer".
The history of Rance perfumes continues in Milan since the late 1800s. François' successors carry on the tradition of "imperial perfumes." Jean Rance, Francois' son, made a perfume bearing his name in honor of the birth of Napoleon's only son, François Charles, King of Rome. Later, François' nephew, Alexandre Rance, created a special perfume of rare refinement in honor of Napoleon III's charming wife, which he named Eugenie.
